Last week I spent a rare overnight trip there. I spent the night downtown. It had been years since I've done that. I thought I would go geocaching. I found one and then was done. It was cold, I mean freezing.
So I retreated to the tunnels. Downtown Houston has about 6.4 miles of tunnels downtown. I called it quits after a dozen blocks or so. The thing about tunnels. They all look the same. Especially after hours. During the day there is a lot going on and lots of shops and restaurants and such. After work it is all deserted and not very much fun. It is warm though!
I finally found a decent sushi place and had me some very good raw fish and a couple of malted beverages for dinner and then made the long, cold, windy, dark, deserted walk back to my hotel.
The next morning I had a meeting with a customer and then headed back to Tulsa.

I had read about the weather in Houston and that's pretty unusual!! I don't remember hearing about much severe cold weather there and I have cousins that live there. I can surely vouch for the heat/humidity in the summer though! Great shots for the day!!
Sorry your adventure out geocaching didn't turn out to be fruitfl;. I'm surprised it was so cold there!
I've never been to Houston, I had no idea about all the tunnels! I really like that first shot of yours. The lights sparkling.

I'm not sure I'd like to walk in those tunnels - I'm a daylight kind of girl (that word used very loosely seeing as how I'm knocking on 80)

Love that last pic which I had to study awhile before figuring out what it was. I hope the next time you go, you'll stay at Hotel ZaZa and tell me what it's like. (Do you have a big expense account?) We ate in the "happening"restaurant and thought it would be fun to stay there someday.
I used to spend every January in Houston a long time ago. Sure looks different with the tunnels now.The thing I remember was how warm it was. Guess everything is relative. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

I've never heard about these tunnels in Houston. Glad you didn't get lost in them.
Never really got excited about Houston but then I've spent most of my time there in the airport. Like your night shot.
I'd walk through a deserted tunnel for good sushi anytime! (Well, maybe alone I wouldn't, now that I think of it!). I didn't know this about Houston even though we have been there a couple of times.

It looks a bit spooky when it's deserted. My brother lived there for a few years and so I remember those tunnels, but we used them to avoid the heat and humidity rather than the cold.
It looks like a great place to visit.

I've never been to Houston, and did not know about that city's tunnels! I love sushi and I hope I find a good new place to have it, now that I've moved to Colorado!
I didn't know Houston has an underground. I was expecting a dark, cold tunnel, but it looks more like a mall.
