Skywatch Friday - Crossed Signals

01_00A

I'm always amazed at not just our skies overhead but how much wires, cables, signs, signals and other stuff we have overhead all over the place. As a pipeline engineer I can tell you that there are probably just as many wires and cables as well as pipelines carrying natural gas, fresh water, sewage, storm-water under our feet.

On one level it is all just visual pollution, on another it gives me a feeling of the net of connectiveness between all of us on this planet. If I had your phone number I could probably call you right now as you are reading this.

Would you pick up?

That's a lovely shot even though I agree with you about visual pollution.

Nice sky though I find the wires an eye sore. If you want my number let me know.

It would be great if we could put them all underground with the pipes but that is probably not practical. It might save money in the long run, though as underground is not as susceptible to damage.

I find it most odd to see so many wires overhead. Here we have so few - the majority being underground. If you want my number, I'll give it with pleasure.

That is a lot of wires and signals all in one place but they sure made an interesting picture. Where the lines cross makes me think of peanut butter cookies. :)

How interesting. We don't see traffic light like this.

I would definitely pick up the phone if you called. My dad's nickname was Yogi, so I am curious as to how you came to use that moniker.

Lovely skies in spite of the visual pollution -- we do have more of that than any of us want!! Have a very Happy New Year, my friend!!

I hear you about that web of connectiveness. Winter weather always leaves me contemplating the delicate nature of that web.

I would pick up for sure.

This is something photographers normally try to avoid but your composition makes it something worth remembering.

Yes, we are definitely connected, aren't we?

Cool contrast between Mother Nature and Man's inventions!

It's crowded up there. Well, it's easier placing the lines on top than underground. I'm sure perching birds would appreciate it.
