No Rest on the Seventh Day, but I am not Complaining

Sunday:

Lets see, up at 5:15 am, get dressed, drive down to the Arkansas River. Run six miles with Burt and Jeff from church. Drink coffee at Starbucks until 8.

Drive home, get dressed, we missed church today but Sweetie is teaching 4 year olds and I'm helping her so we all load up and go to church anyway. SuperPizzaBoy goes to his Sunday School with his buddy.

Sweetie and I go to see the 4 year olds. Not enough adult help (2 deep adult leadership for child and adult safety, married couples don't count!) so we had to combine with another class. Take to big group and then since so many kids they play on the playground.

SPB's new bed is in at the furniture store. So I drive up there with the truck (sneak in a geocache on the way.) Pick the stuff up, take back to the house.

SPB's kid furniture needs to go!

His old ceiling fan needs to go also

New one, more masculine, needs to go in.

Turns out that taking down the old ceiling fan and putting in the new one is what soaks up the hours.

SPB's new bed frame is maple, snaps together!

Sweetie finishes it off, SPB is pretty happy with it.

Time for a Chipotle's burrito and a malted beverage.

Not very much rest today but all in all a day well spent and satisfying.

Star Trek

Sweetie and I dropped SuperPizzaBoy off for a birthday party and sleepover. We took advantage of our childlessness to have a date. Dinner and a movie. We ate at Louie's. We went to see the new Star Trek movie.

This Star Trek has all new actors playing the parts. It is about time! There is only one original Star Trek actor left. Watch the movie and find out who. I'll say this at the risk of making Trekies mad. The original series, as good as it was, is not as good as some of the followup series and movies. This latest movie in particular is very good.

One bright spot for guys is that in this movie the women's uniforms are again short dresses!

I rate this movie 3 stars out of 4.

Plot Uncovered

This is a nation of plots and conspiracies. I don't want to gloss over these. I mean you have to take them seriously.

First, I'm sure that you have heard that our new President Barack Obama is a secret Muslim, right? You have also heard about his secret plot to trample on the constitution and enslave Americans? Oh, come on, sure you have.

Second, George W. Bush. This is easy. His dad, "H" was a member of the Trilateral Commission. No wait, that was Jimmy, Doesn't matter! "H" is a member of the Yale Skull and Bones Society. They are the ones who stole Geronimo's skull from his grave right here in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Son George had a secret plot to trample on the constitution and enslave Americans. Oh come on, you know its true, right.

Third, Bill and Hillary. Guess what, same plot. They almost made it happen. Remember all those Russian tanks that were massed on the border just waiting for the order to attack Texas? You didn't believe that? Shows how naive you are!

Well guess what , like a true blogger, I have recently discovered a plot right here in Tulsa. Yep that's right and I have the documentary proof for it. You get to read it here first. The news hits the wires in a day or two, you will be way ahead of the curve.

Here it is!!

New Plot Exposed!!!

Sunday Skirtlifting

Sunday - Memorial Day Weekend - I grilled burgers and hot dogs at Nana's house.

SuperPizzaBoy and a friend swam in the pool.
We ate, a lot, I took a nap, and then,
it was time to go geocaching!

First up, Legend of the Woodwalker by Team Gingerbread.
Fun, fun, fun, ooh ah, ooh ah,
Chiggers, no ticks, yet!
Just duck your head, and go down this trail.

Next, the first of two skirt lifters. I love lifting skirts. You never know what you will find. Sometimes you find trouble! The geocache under this lamp skirt is called Air Supply by spamby. You get one guess why it is called Air Supply.

I found a few others. Then I went to replace one of mine that has gone missing, Little Haikey Creek. Below is the replacement cache and its contents. Note the SpongeBob SquarePants golf ball. I promised them to fellow blogger Baloney if she would take up golf, or geocaching for that matter. She better make up her mind; the balls are going fast. (Don't tell her, but I know where to get more!)

I had a lot of fun. I had to stop at Walgreens and spend $1.99 plus tax on some itch ointment because of the chiggers. Small price to pay in my book!

Sunday Morning Double Run

Sunday mornings I go run with some guys from our Sunday School Class. Actually I haven't made it too often. Last Sunday morning I showed up at 6 am and nobody was there so I fired up my ipod and brought my camera and off I went by myself.

The Jenks bridge.

This is exciting. It is one of my employer's pipeline installations. This is called a "Pig Launcher." A pig is a bullet shaped foam plug that is pushed through a pipeline to get eliminate the liquids that build up and cause excessive pressure drop.

You thought pig launchers are fun, look at this. These are "City Gates" where the gas is delivered to the local utility. Notice the twin dark blue cylinders off to the left center of the photograph. Those are what odorize the gas for residential service. Pipeline quality natural gas is odorless.

Almost back to the car, view across the river to the buildings that once housed Oral Roberts University Medical School and City of Faith Hospital. Oral was told by a 900 foot Jesus to build the medical school and hospital. Oral must have misunderstood. Both the Medical School and the Hospital folded a long time ago.

I got back to the car, time to go to Starbucks right? Wrong! I couldn't find my keys. They must have fallen out of my fanny pack while taking a photograph.

So guess what, I ran the route again! Instead of 4 miles, I got in 8 miles. I didn't find my keys, somebody else did. They stopped me and gave them to me when I was almost done with my second lap. Bless them.

Sorry, I wasn't in the mood to take photographs on my second lap. I was just glad to see those keys. I am absolutely positive that it was my 666BOI license plate that led to the return of my keys.

Dark Haunted Woods - Revisited

Once a month Sweetie goes to her book group. The group has been together for years and years. Since long before SuperPizzaBoy was born. SPB and I have boys night out on book group night. We have done all sorts of good stuff. Especially when school is out. For example we have hidden several "Boys Night Out" caches.

One of these is "Boys Night Out - Dark Haunted Woods" located in south Tulsa in the middle of the largest .... well, get your gps and find it if you are interested.

Back in February the cache was reported missing by several people. So I disabled it. On Friday I replaced the cache. I know that it has been a long time, but we have been through a lot as a family also.

SPB and I are very proud of this cache. It is located in a small section of very dense woods located near the largest .... (again, I'm not saying) in Tulsa.

Trail to the cache.

You are looking right at it. Also, are you allergic to poison ivy? Be careful, leaves of three and all that.

Half Day Off

Yesterday I took a half day off and played a round of golf with some coworkers.

Above, note the equipment. The finest irons on the generic market of 1988. The best $19.95 driver and 3 wood Sam's had in 1991, and a wonderful $7.50 Walmart putter from 1992. Nothing but the best for me. Sweetie got me the golf bag a few years ago, its the best item of equipment I have, next to my lucky SpongeBob SquarePants golf balls.

BTW - I still love that license plate!

My coworkers. We had a great time.

The weather was warm, humid, and sunny. Wonderful.
Signature hole. I wonder if they would let me hide a geocache there?

We played some golf, we drank some malted beverages, a couple of us made some great shots, some of us made some horrible shots, but we all had a great time.

How did I do? What do you mean? I played golf during working hours so I did great!

Oh, you mean what was my score?

OK, I shot a 64 - pretty good uh?

and

a 62 on the back 9!

Skywatch Friday - Horsetooth Reservoir Colorado

Attending a party at the lake, I wandered off to take a picture. There was somebody fishing under the tree.

Shame on the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 943

Driving to work after my morning run earlier this week I saw the above sign. David Hannagan is the president of a non-union contractor, Green Country Interiors. The sign is courtesy of the Tulsa Local 943 of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. As discussed earlier and as reported by the Tulsa World the union is using homeless people to do the picketing for them. I don't know if they are using homeless people because real carpenters cannot be bothered or are too busy or some other reason.

The thing about the sign above is that it is not located at a construction site or a business. It is located at the entrance to Mr. Hannagan's subdivision in south Tulsa.

I think that is wrong. They may have the legal right to do that, sure. But that doesn't mean that they should do it.

I get it, we have free speech and picketing as a means of protest has a long history in this country. But don't take it to somebody's home! Especially with homeless stand ins who stand to gain nothing from this tactic.

I think this "Shaming" campaign may backfire on the union big time. After the truth came out in paper I have not found anybody sympathetic to the union's cause.

Graduation

As previously reported SuperPizzaBoy and I flew to Colorado to attend and celebrate his cousin Jillian's graduation from Colorado State University at Fort Collins.

Jillian graduated with dual degrees. BS in both Agricultural Business and in Equine Science. She is very smart. She has loved horses her whole life and has one of her own. She was also on Colorado State's horse judging team and won many individual and team awards.

The Ag Department at CSU hosted a breakfast for the graduates and their families. Below, from left to right, is Jillian's dad, Irvin, sister Marian, and Jillian herself. Both sisters are very pretty. Good thing they took after their mother and not dad. When Marian was younger she and I used to partner up and kick butt and take names in all sorts of games, Scrabble, Monopoly, whatever. Our motto was, "You know what you call a good loser? A loser." We were very obnoxious. Eventually nobody would play with us. I understand that, I mean, why keep beating your head against the wall?

Jillian's friend, Megan, and Jillian with "Cam the Ram." He is a sheep I called him a goat, I thought I was going to get escorted off the campus. They take sheep and goats very seriously at an Ag school I found out.
Its a good thing they didn't hear me earlier. SPB asked me why the animal was there. I told him that they were going to barbecue him to serve the graduates after the ceremony. He asked me if he could have the horns. I said sure little dude, but you have to share with Shiloh.

Sisters Jillian and Marian (with Marian's son Shiloh in the background.) He is looking kind of thoughtful.

Another shot of Shiloh. Shiloh is a great soccer player and is very athletic. He and and SPB get along very well. SPB is very laid back, slow moving, and bright, Shiloh is very energetic, active, and also bright.. (In the background in the red coat, is Shiloh's great grandfather (my Dad) Gramps.

Graduation picture, sorry, dim lighting, cheap camera, and distance are a bad combination.
Afterwards Jillian's parents threw a party in honor of Jillian and her friends. We had quite a time. They cooked fajitas, malted beverages were available.

My brother-in-law Irvin, the master chef at work.

They had games like the sack race below. Also three legged race, spoon race, volleyball. Everybody had a great time.

SPB and Shiloh with their Bakugan. I don't get it. What's the deal with Pokemon, Bakugan, and Bionicles? It has its own language, SPB can lecture for hours on the subject.
All good things must come to an end. Sunday, my Dad, Gramps left to go back to Idaho. My sister Ellen, next to him. Fortunately for her, she doesn't look like me.

My World - Denver Museum of Nature and Science

SuperPizzaBoy and I were in Colorado attending the graduation of my niece Jillian. On the way back we had a few spare hours in Denver before going to the airport. We decided to go to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. I had high expectations and they were exceeded.

We were there about 2 hours and maybe saw a fourth of it. Plus they have a planetarium and an Imax Theater. We did mainly the interactive science exhibits, the wildlife dioramas, and the Native American gallery. SPB and I strongly recommend this museum as a place to go. Budget all day if you have it.

SuperPizzaBoy Makes the Local Paper

SuperPizzaBoy and I were in Colorado visiting family when we found out that he made our Local Paper. The Tulsa World. Read all about it here.

The paper did a pretty good job. We are very proud of SPB. He has come a long way in the last few years.

Also, his school is having a fundraiser Monday night (May 18) at the Panera Bread on Cherry Street in Tulsa. Some of the kids are going to perform, including SPB himself. The restaurant is going to donate a portion of their gross proceeds, so come have a soup and sandwich.
