I don't get a lot of hip-hop. I try every now and then on Sirius XM but I'm not really a hip-hop kind of guy. I'm more of an alternative rock - thrash metal - jazz kind of guy. But I finally gave in and purchased The Black Eyed Peas new CD "The End." I may be the oldest, fattest, baldest guy to ever buy the CD and sign up for their fan club.
To me its not really hip-hop its more of techno pop type thing with heavily synthesized vocals and instruments. Hey if Peter Frampton and Cher can do it so can other people.
I love the beat. You can dance to it. You can, I can't dance to anything, just ask Sweetie. I like it because most of my ipod listening is while I'm running and this is easy music to run with.
And the lyrics. Gotta love the lyrics. Even I can understand them, and they are so happy.

Tip, buy the clean version at Walmart if you have kids. I bought mine at Target, I will not play it with a kid in the car.

This is a very different sound from when they first came out. You're right, it is pretty mindless, but catchy. It would be good running music. The words are ok. only s... and that blurred out. Or is this the clean one?
@TG - I think that its the clean version. In the "uncut" version s*** comes through loud and clear.
I hate to ask people to "compromise" their art but I don't think the addition or deletion of s*** adds much to the artistic value of the song.
I like some techno and listen to some of the Syrius/XM channels. I don't think I could endure much of this on a long run though.
@TZ - Anything past three miles I need a variety in music tempo or I just cannot stand it.
I like the beat, too. If I worked out (which, to date, has been against my religion), I could see working out to this.
Oh, I meant to add that I did not mean to malign engineers in general in yesterday's post. My dad, father in law, brother, and son are all engineers. I like engineers. Really.
